Stammliste der Wolkenstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Coat of arms of the Wolkenstein

The Stammliste der Wolkenstein deals with the genealogy of the Wolkenstein , a branch of the lords of Villanders , an ancient noble family in Tyrol , whose roots go back to the 12th century . The Vilander / Wolkenstein acquired the castle and the court of Selva in 1293 and called themselves from then on "von Selva". Friedrich III. In 1476 the family rose to the baron status , which was soon divided into the lines Wolkenstein-Trostburg on the Trostburg and Wolkenstein-Rodenegg on Rodenegg Castle . The Trostburg line was raised to the rank of imperial count in 1630, as counts of Wolkenstein, barons of Trostburg and Neuhauß . The Rodenegger line was raised to barons of Rodenegg in 1564 , the entire family was enfeoffed in 1569 with the hereditary land, stable master and pre- cutting office in Tyrol.

Connection to other genders

The Wolkenstein (and the nearby lines of the Villanders) are related by marriage to some sexes several times, for example with the Spaur at least 13 times, the Thun / Thurn 10, Firmian six, Fuchs , Waldburg five times, Boymont four times, Brandis , Vintler , Herren von Ems / Hohenems / Altemps, Khuen von Belasy three times. There are family connections to the highly free genders and ruling families such as the Hohenzollern , Habsburg and Liechtenstein . As a predominantly Roman Catholic family, the Wolkenstein had three bishops and an elect , numerous monks and canons , members of orders of knights, abbesses and nuns. The Wolkenstein served as generals, ministers and governors (especially in Tyrol) and also served as diplomats for various rulers. Probably the most famous member of the old line is the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein .

A. Line Wolkenstein-Trostburg

From when the Lords of Vilanders called themselves "von Wolkenstein" after the Wolkenstein Castle is not certain. The list follows the Biographical Lexicon of the Kaiserthums Oesterreich (BLKÖ) or Johann Huebner's “Genealogical Tables” (1727), Table 683. Randold and his son Konrad are the first to be named “von Wolkenstein” in documents.

Individual evidence

  1. According to Zedlers Universallexikon , Volume 58, Sp. 390 ( zedler-lexikon.de ), it was not until 1328 that Randold's son Konrad († 1373) would have exchanged the family name Villanders with the name Wolkenstein. According to this, Konrad and his wife Ursula von Enna would be the real ancestors of the Wolkenstein family. According to a legend, Hans von Maulrapp built the Wolkenstein Castle.

Remarks

  1. The family lists are intended to give an overview of the extensive and as yet little researched genealogy of these noble families according to the BKLÖ and the more recent literature and sources available. The lists do not claim to be complete or faultless. Contradictions, ambiguities and additions are explained through comments and individual references.
  2. a b in older literature (including in BLKÖ) another marriage to Anna Countess von Hohenems is incorrectly stated
  3. the line founded by Lienhard died out in the third generation
  4. according to BKLÖ: Georg, Canon in Brixen 1464
  5. probably daughter of Gratia Dei von Spaur, Herr zu Pflaum and Valeur, Erbschenk in Tyrol, and Christina Künigl zu Ehrenburg? according to Nedopil, Deutsche Adelsproben, Volume 2, P. 537, No. 7799
