Strozzi
The Strozzi are an old Florentine patrician family that can be traced back to the 13th century , divided into several branches early on, and played an important role in the 14th century . Their wealth was based on banking business, in their political engagement they mostly opposed the Medici , and were banished by them several times. In the 15th and 16th centuries , the Strozzi appeared as patrons, and family members were also active in the literary, artistic and religious fields.
By marriage, the Strozzi banking family received, among other things, the title of Prince of Forano and Duke of Bagnolo. The Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, which belonged to the family until 1907 , was bequeathed to the Italian state by will.
