Tarki or Targhu ( Russian Тарки , Tarki, Kumyk Таргъу, Targhu) is an urban-type settlement within the district of Makhachkala with 15,356 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010). Tarki was the seat of the pubic bowl of Dagestan from 1640 to 1867 .
