Dubki ( Russian Дубки́ ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia with 5202 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The place is a good 50 km as the crow flies west of the republic capital Makhachkala in the eastern part of the Greater Caucasus . It is located on the right (eastern) edge of the canyon of the Sulak river , which is almost 700 meters deep there , almost 6 km north of the Tschirkei dam .
Dubki belongs to the Kazbekovsky Rajon and is located about 15 km east-southeast of its administrative center Dylym . It is the seat and only locality of the municipality (gorodskoje posselenije) Possjolok Dubki. Over three quarters of the town's inhabitants are Avars .
history
The place emerged from 1972 as a second housing estate for the builders of the Tschirkei dam, after the imminent flooding of the Druzhba settlement, initially built provisionally above the dam, became apparent . In 1974 Dubki received urban-type settlement status.

Dubki is located on the regional road 82K-034, which connects to the 82K-004 Buinaksk - Kisiljurt a good 10 km north and 15 km south-east near the village of Tschirkei . The federal trunk road R217 Kawkas runs near the town of Kisiljurt, located a good 20 km north on the mountain edge ; there is also the nearest train station on the Rostov-on-Don - Makhachkala - Baku line .
