Komsomolski ( Russian Комсомо́льский ) is an urban-type settlement in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia with 2723 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 125 km as the crow flies north-northwest of the republic capital Makhachkala in the Caspian Depression , a good 40 km from the coast of the Caspian Sea . It is located on the right bank of the Talowka, a left branch of the estuary in the Terek river delta .

Komsomolski belongs to the district of Kisljar and is located about 15 km north of the center of the city of Kisljar, surrounded by the territory of Tarumowski rajon . A good half of the settlement's inhabitants are Russians ; Avars (23%) and Darginer (12%, all 2010) predominate among members of Dagestani ethnic groups .

history

The place emerged from the end of the 1950s as a workers' settlement in connection with the construction of the Dagelektroapparat electrotechnical plant . In 1962 it received urban-type settlement status and was named Komsomol in honor of the Soviet Communist youth organization .

In Komsomolsky, the Rasjesd railway station № 17 (" Siding No. 17") is located at km 96 of the railway line from Chervlyonnaja (near Gudermes ) to Astrakhan, which was opened on this section in 1942 . A local road leads along the railway line to Kisljar, where there is a connection to the federal trunk road R215 (part of the European route 119 ) from Astrakhan to Makhachkala.
