Isberbash ( Russian Избербаш ) is a city in the North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan in Russia with 55,646 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the northeastern edge of the Greater Caucasus, about 60 km southeast of the republic capital Makhachkala on the Caspian Sea .
Isberbash is administratively directly subordinate to the republic.
The city is located on the main line of the North Caucasus Railway, which was opened on this section in 1900, from Rostov-on-Don to Makhachkala to Baku (km 2347 from Moscow ). The M29 Rostov-on-Don – Azerbaijani border also runs through Isberbasch .
history
In 1932 a workers' settlement of the same name was built near the old village of Isberbasch in connection with the development of a petroleum deposit , which was granted town charter in 1949. The name of the place stands in Kumyk for track on the head , or track of a head on the mountain .

The most important company in the city is an electric furnace factory. There are also companies in the building materials industry and the food industry.
