Karabudachkent ( Russian Карабудахкент ; Kumyk Къарабудагъгент Qarabudağgent ; Dargin Къарабудахкунт Qarabudaxkunt ) is a village (selo) in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is about 30 km as the crow flies south of the republic capital Makhachkala near the north-eastern edge of the Greater Caucasus . It is located at the confluence of the Paraulosen and Gubdenosen to the Manasosen , which flows about 13 km east into the Caspian Sea .

Karabudachkent is the administrative center of the Rajons Karabudachkentski and seat and only town in the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Selo Karabudachkent. It is located in the central part of the settlement area of ​​the Kumyks , who make up the majority of the population. Other strongly represented ethnic groups are Darginer in particular , but also Laken .

history

Known as an important village since the beginning of the 18th century, it became the administrative center of a Rajon for the first time in 1921. After this was in the meantime incorporated into the Makhachkalinsky rajon and later Buinakski rajon, it existed again from January 23, 1935 to September 14, 1960 and from February 1, 1963 as Leninski rajon (named after Lenin ), from January 12, 1965 again in the original borders. Since February 20, 1992, the Rajon bears its original name after the village of Karabudachkent.

The village is on the regional road 82K-011 (formerly R280), which branches off the R217 Kawkas trunk road about 8 km east at the Manas settlement , continues from Karabudachkent in a southerly direction via Gubden and Sergokala and thus the peripheral areas of the Caucasus west of the City of Isberbash opens up.

The nearest train station is located at Manas at kilometer 2319 (from Moscow ) on the Rostov-on-Don  - Baku route .
