Dagestanskije Ogni ( Russian Дагестанские Огни ) is a city in the North Caucasian Republic of Dagestan with 27,923 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located on the northeast edge of the Great Caucasus about 120 km south-east of the Republic capital Makhachkala on Derb Enter channel , one along here about five kilometers distant shores of the Caspian Sea running irrigation canal .
Dagestanskije Ogni is administratively directly subordinate to the republic.
The city is located on the main route of the North Caucasus Railway, which was opened on this section in 1900, from Rostov-on-Don- Makhachkala- Baku (line kilometer 2403 from Moscow ). The M29 Rostov-on-Don – Azerbaijani border also runs through Dagestanskije Ogni .
history
Dagestanskije Ogni was established in 1914 in connection with the construction of a glass factory , received urban-type settlement status in 1938 and town charter in 1990. The place name stands for Dagestani fires and refers to the natural gas occurring here , which was originally used to operate the glassworks.

economy
The most important company in the city is the glass factory, which mainly produces window glass. There is also the construction industry, carpet production and wine production.
