Thomas Williams (Lieutenant Governor)

Thomas Williams (born before 1820; died after 1830) was an American politician . Between 1828 and 1830 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Carolina .

There are almost no sources about Thomas Williams. His life and work are largely in the dark. What is certain is that he lived at least temporarily in South Carolina and joined the Andrew Jackson movement in the 1820s . He became a member of the Democratic Party founded by him in 1828 . That year he was elected lieutenant governor of his state by the South Carolina General Assembly alongside Stephen Decatur Miller . He held this office between December 10, 1828 and December 9, 1830. He was Deputy Governor . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, his track is lost again.
