EB Jackson

Edmund Bellinger "EB" Jackson (born June 29, 1879 in Aiken , South Carolina , †  July 12, 1947 in Madison , Georgia ) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1927 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Carolina.

Career

In 1901, EB Jackson graduated from The Citadel Military Academy in Charleston . He then taught as a teacher for three years before embarking on a career in banking. He was also a successful planter who ran several cotton plantations. He worked for the First National Bank of Wagener , providing cheap loans to the area's farmers and planters. Over 90 percent of the loans granted went to this group of customers. This made the bank dependent on the success or failure of agriculture. Within the bank, he rose to become president. Whether the bank has suffered damage from its lending operations is not mentioned in the sources.

Politically, Jackson joined the Democratic Party . In 1922 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina at the side of Thomas Gordon McLeod . He held this office between 1923 and 1927. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. He died in Madison on July 12, 1947.
