Thomas Bothwell Butler

Thomas Bothwell Butler (born January 11, 1866 in Union County , South Carolina , † January 5, 1931 ) was an American politician . Between 1927 and 1931 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Carolina.

The sources on Thomas Butler are very poor. His biographical data, taken from Find A Grave , should only be viewed with reservations, as there is no explicit reference to the lieutenant governor. One thing is certain: Butler was a lawyer and a member of the Democratic Party . In 1926 he was elected Lieutenant Governor of South Carolina at the side of John Gardiner Richards . He held this office between 1927 and 1931. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate .
