John Fulton Ervin

John Fulton Ervin (born February 16, 1807 in Williamsburg County , South Carolina , †  October 20, 1856 in South Carolina) was an American politician . Between 1844 and 1846 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Carolina.

Nothing is known about John Ervin's youth and schooling. He later moved to Darlington . There he worked as a planter . He also ran a tannery. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 1836 and 1840 he was a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives .

In 1844, Ervin was elected lieutenant governor of his state by the South Carolina General Assembly alongside William Aiken . He held this office between December 7, 1844 and December 8, 1846. He was Deputy Governor . In the years 1852 to 1854 he was again a member of the state parliament. John Ervin died on October 20, 1856 and was buried in Darlington.
