Toronto International Film Festival 2007
The 32nd Toronto International Film Festival took place September 6-15, 2007 . It's a ten day film festival with no competition.
349 films from 55 countries were shown, many of them for the first time in North America or even worldwide. Directors presented their film debut in 71 films. The festival featured over 100 Canadian productions and co-productions. The gala took place at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto .
Over 500 guests were invited, including stars such as Cate Blanchett , George Clooney , Jodie Foster , Samuel L. Jackson , Sean Penn , Brad Pitt , Charlize Theron , Sigourney Weaver and Reese Witherspoon .
The film drama Fugitive Pieces by Jeremy Podeswa with Stephen Dillane and Rade Šerbedžija opened the festival. It is based on the novel of the same name by Anne Michaels . Paolo Barzman's film drama Emotional Arithmetic with Christopher Plummer , Susan Sarandon , Gabriel Byrne , Max von Sydow and Roy Dupuis formed the conclusion. The film is based on the book of the same name by Matt Cohen and is about three Holocaust survivors who meet again after decades.

The most notable films include the adventure drama Into the Wild by director Sean Penn, the comedy Lars und die Frauen with Ryan Gosling , the mystery thriller 1 Murder for 2 by Kenneth Branagh with Michael Caine and Jude Law , the thriller Michael Clayton by Tony Gilroy with George Clooney, the thriller Deadly Promises - Eastern Promises by David Cronenberg with Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts , the comedy Juno by Jason Reitman with Ellen Page , the thriller No Country for Old Men by Ethan and Joel Coen and the documentary Body of War , the directorial debut by talk show host Phil Donahue.
Many films with tragic and political content were shown. B. the thriller Powerless by Gavin Hood with Reese Witherspoon and Meryl Streep and the thriller In the Valley of Elah by Paul Haggis with Tommy Lee Jones .
On September 9, 2007, the drama Elizabeth - The Golden Kingdom by director Shekhar Kapur had its world premiere, in which Cate Blanchett played the title role and is considered a tip at the Oscars .
For the first time Woody Allen had agreed to participate, he was represented with the drama Cassandra's dream . Richard Attenborough showed the love story Closing the Ring with Shirley MacLaine . Director Ang Lee was present with the romantic drama Danger and Desire , in which Joan Chen plays. Director Sidney Lumet was there with the drama Before the Devil Knows You're Dead with Philip Seymour Hoffman and director Brian De Palma with the war drama Redacted . Michael Moore's documentary Captain Mike Across America was shown at the special screenings. Director Wayne Wang took part in the festival with the dramas A Thousand Years of Good Prayers and The Princess of Nebraska .

With the comedy Then She Found Me made Helen Hunt before her first film as director. Clint Eastwood's daughter Alison Eastwood made her directorial debut in the drama A New Life .
Another guest was former US President Jimmy Carter , about whom Jonathan Demme directed the documentary Man from Plains .
The work of the filmmaker Michel Brault was shown in a Canadian retrospective .
