Velm-Götzendorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 17.7 square kilometers. About three percent of the area is forested.

The community consists of the cadastral communities Götzendorf and Velm. Since these two place names can also be found not far from each other in the industrial district (market town Götzendorf an der Leitha and cadastral municipality Velm in the town of Himberg), there is often confusion.
