The Austrian women's soccer championship was held for the 48th time in 2019/20 after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga and is being held for the 7th time. The second highest division ( 2nd league ), this season the 41st edition, will be played across Austria for the first time. The season should last from mid-August 2019 to the beginning of June 2020, but was canceled in April 2020 without evaluation due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

    In the Future League, in which only the 2nd teams of the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga take part, SKN St. Pölten Women leads ahead of Neulengbach Juniors, SG USC Landhaus / Austria Wien, AKA Styria - Sturm Graz, FC Wacker Innsbruck, FC Bergheim, FFC Vorderland, FC Südburgenland, Altenmarkt Juniors and Horn SV.

    11 teams will compete in the 2019/20 season, a twelfth team did not want to participate. Each team plays once at home and away against every other team. The league champion is promoted to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga. The team on the last rank is relegated to the respective national league.

    Season course

    The 2nd league was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , so there was no promoter to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga this season. ASK Eggendorf was the 11th and last club that did not participate in the 2020/21 season.
