The Česká televise ( ČT , German Czech Television ) is the public broadcaster Czech Republic . The head office is in Prague , there are also studios in Brno and Ostrava, among others . The counterpart to the ČT in radio is the Český rozhlas .
history
ČT was established as a legal entity on January 1, 1992. One year later, on January 1, 1993, when the Czechoslovak state and thus also Czechoslovak Television (ČST) was dissolved, ČT took over the facilities of the former Czechoslovak television in the Czech Republic .
program
Today ČT offers the following full 24-hour programs:
- The first program, ČT1, is aimed at a majority audience and mainly broadcasts series , films and television shows
- The second program ČT2 is on culture, education and documentation aligned
- The news channel ČT24 officially started its program in May 2005. It can also be on the Internet and on satellite Astra 1 , Astra 3A and 1 Euro Bird received. The current program can be followed live on the Internet and older programs can also be called up. Some programs are taken over by ČT1 .
- The sports channel ČT sport started with the Olympic Winter Games in 2006 and broadcasts sports.
- The children's channel ČT: D and the cultural channel ČT art share a distribution channel . ČT: D can be received from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., ČT art .
- In order to create an additional offer for seniors during the COVID-19 pandemic , a new channel called ČT3 mainly broadcasts archive content during the day . TV announcers accompany the program .
With the exception of ČT3, all channels are also available in high definition ( ČT1 HD , ČT2 HD , ČT sport HD , ČT: D HD , ČT art HD ).
structure
The control body of the ČT is a supervisory board ( Rada České televize ), whose members are appointed by the House of Representatives of Parliament . You are not allowed to hold any political or partisan function. The board of directors elects the general director and has to submit an annual report to the House of Representatives .
