Andreas Ulmer (born October 30, 1985 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player . He has been with FC Red Bull Salzburg since 2009 . His father and uncle were also soccer players; both played for many years at SK VÖEST Linz .

Career

society

Andreas Ulmer started his career with his hometown club SK Asten . From there he moved to Linz to the BNZ LASK . At the age of 14 he was accepted at the Frank Stronach Academy in Hollabrunn , where he graduated from high school in 2005 . In the 2004/05 season he made his debut for FK Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga and in the UEFA Cup against Legia Warsaw .

After two seasons in the second division with the Austria Amateurs , he moved to SV Ried in 2008 due to better prospects of success , where he was able to establish himself as a regular player and as one of only two players played all 22 games before the winter break of the 2008/09 season . His personal sporting highlight was probably September 23, 2008, when Ulmer scored the gold goal for Rieder to win 1-0 over SK Rapid Wien after a dream solo over 40 meters .

On January 28, 2009, he moved to Red Bull Salzburg and signed a contract there until 2012. In mid-April 2019, he extended his contract prematurely until summer 2022. In his first half-season at Red Bull Salzburg, he became a regular as a left defender in the season In 2009/10 he was in all games and came to 3155 minutes. In the 2010/11 season he suffered a serious injury while warming up for a Champions League qualifier, so that he could only be used again towards the end of the season.

He is the first player in the Austrian Bundesliga to have played 37 league games in a 36-round season. The reason for this is that he moved from SV Ried to Salzburg during the winter. Since they had to complete a supplementary game from autumn in the spring and Ulmer was also used there, he came to a total of 37 completed league games in one season.

National team

Shortly after the transfer to the Salzburg team , he was called up for the Austrian national team for the friendly against Sweden . In this game he made his debut in the red-white-red national dress on February 11, 2009. After he was no longer considered by Marcel Koller in March 2015 , Franco Foda brought him back to the squad for his first international match as national coach in November 2017.
