Bærum is located between Oslo and Asker and is a western suburb of Oslo and part of the urban capital area and part of the Evangelical Lutheran diocese of Oslo .

The Telenor Arena , home of Stabæk IF and the venue of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, is located in Bærum . Anders Behring Breivik , who was sentenced to 21 years' imprisonment and subsequent preventive detention for the murder of 77 people, is housed in Ila maximum security prison in Bærum Municipality. On August 10, 2019, a Norwegian assassin armed with firearms committed a terrorist attack on the Al Noor mosque, injuring a male who was stopping the perpetrator.

economy

The city is still a transport hub after the closure of Oslo-Fornebu Airport in 1998. In addition, the Norwegian telephone company Telenor has been based here since 2002.
