The women's African Basketball Championship in 1993 , the twelfth women's African Basketball Championship , took place between December 18 and 28, 1993 in Dakar , Senegal , which hosted the championship for the fourth time. The winner was the Senegalese national team , which won the title for the seventh time, for the second time in a row. Kenya was beaten in the final . For the first time a team from South Africa took part in the tournament.
In the preliminary round there were two groups (group A and group B) of four (group A) and five (group B) teams. Each team played against each other of the respective group exactly once, so that each team played three (Group A) or four (Group B) games (a total of 16 games were played). There were two points for each win and one point for a defeat. The two teams with the highest points moved into the semi-finals. In the event of a tie, the direct comparison decided . Since the second to fourth placed in Group B were tied and Mozambique won against South Africa, South Africa against Angola and Angola against Mozambique, the relative basket ratio of these three games decided. Since Mozambique had the better relative basket ratio (+11) compared to Angola (+2) and South Africa (−13), the team moved into the semi-finals. The third placed played for fifth place and the fourth placed for seventh place. The Republic of the Congo finished last in Group B in ninth place overall.
