Brendan Morrison (born August 15, 1975 in Pitt Meadows , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 995 games for the New Jersey Devils , Vancouver Canucks , Anaheim Ducks , Dallas Stars , Washington Capitals , Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League on the position of the center has denied. Morrison, who received the Hobey Baker Memorial Award while in college , celebrated his greatest career success wearing the jersey of the Canadian national team by winning the gold medal at the 2004 World Cup .
Career
Brendan Morrison was selected in the second round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils as the 39th player overall. From 1993 to 1997, he had some successful seasons for the University of Michigan college team , the Michigan Wolverines. In 1997 he was honored with the Hobey Baker Memorial Award , given to the most successful player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
His professional career began in the 1997/98 season, in which he played for the Albany River Rats in the American Hockey League . During this season in Albany he also played eleven games for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. In the 1998/99 season Morrison worked out a regular place in the squad of the Devils, where he played until 2000, when he was transferred to the Vancouver Canucks together with Denis Pederson in exchange for Alexander Mogilny . After the 2007/08 season , Morrison declined an offer to extend the contract from the Canucks and moved to the Anaheim Ducks as a free agent after eight years in Vancouver . During the lockout of the 2004/05 NHL season , he played one season for Linköpings HC in the Elitserien , the Swedish professional league.
The Canadian played for the Anaheim Ducks in 62 games during the 2008/09 season before he was signed by the Dallas Stars via the waiver . There the center forward ended the season. He then spent a season with the Washington Capitals , followed by an engagement with the Calgary Flames beginning the 2010/11 season . On January 27, 2012, the Calgary Flames transferred him to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Brian Connelly . After the 2011/12 game year , Morrison ended his active career shortly before his 37th birthday.
Morrison's most successful professional seasons were the 2001/02 season (23 goals and 44 assists for 67 points) and 2002/03 (25 goals and 46 assists for 71 points) within 82 games, each of the Canucks' third most scorer points after his two storm partners Todd Bertuzzi and Markus Näslund .
International
Morrison was three times in the dress of the Canadian national ice hockey team , at the World Championships in 2000 , 2004 and 2005 , with 2004 for gold and 2005 for silver.
