The 3rd Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race 2017 was an Australian road bike race with start and finish after 174 km in Geelong . The one-day race takes place in honor of the former Tour de France winner Cadel Evans . It was held on Sunday , January 29, 2017 . The bike race was part of the UCI WorldTour 2017 and was the second of a total of 37 races in this series.
The winner of the race in the sprint of a 23-man group was Nikias Arndt from Germany from Team Sunweb ahead of Simon Gerrans . The eventual third-place finisher in the race, Cameron Meyer of the Australian national team , was only placed a good 200 meters from the finish .
