Chadyshensk ( Russian Хадыженск ) is a city in the Krasnodar region ( Russia ) with 21,579 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The city is located in the northern foothills of the Greater Caucasus about 110 km southeast of the regional capital Krasnodar on the Pschisch , a left tributary of the Kuban .

Khadyzhensk located in Rajon Apsheronsk .

The city is located on the Armavir - Tuapse railway line, opened in 1915 ( Chadyshenskaya station, 4 km west of the city).

history

The village was founded at the end of the Caucasus War in 1864 as Cossack stanitsa Chadyschenskaja . The name is of Adygeic origin. The exact etymology, however, is unclear; possibly from Хъыды хъы / Chydy chy for Great Chydy , the latter being a personal name.

On September 28, 1949, with the growth of the place in connection with the beginning of the development of oil deposits in the area, the town charter was awarded.

economy

There is a machine factory and factories in the woodworking industry in Khadyshensk. In the area timber industry, in the direction of the district center Apsheronsk east of the city of oil production.

Khadyzhensk is also balneological health resort on the basis of iodine - bromine - medicinal waters .
