The Brack.ch Challenge League 2016/17 was the 119th season of the second highest Swiss division in men's football. Ten teams also took part in the Challenge League.

The Challenge League was held for the fifth time with ten teams. As in the Super League , the ten clubs each competed four times against each opponent, twice at home and twice away. In total, each team played 36 games. The first-placed FC Zurich rose to the Super League at the end of the season, FC Le Mont-sur-Lausanne was forcibly relegated.

2FC Le Mont was refused the license for the 2017/18 season in the first instance, whereupon an appeal was waived and on May 1, 2017, the voluntary withdrawal from the Challenge League was announced. The new start was made in the following season in the 4th division , the previous division of the second team (eighth highest division).
