Coffee Bowl (tennis)
The Coffee Bowl ( Spanish : Copa del Café ) is a world junior tennis tournament in the second highest category, Grade 1, hosted by the International Tennis Federation and held every January on hard courts in San José , the capital of Costa Rica .
history
The Coffee Bowl , which emerged from a local tennis tournament on the courts of the Costa Rica Country Club in 1965 , is the oldest ITF junior tournament in Latin America . It is now considered one of the most prestigious sporting events in the country. In 2001 and 2002 the tournament belonged to the series of Grade A tournaments, since 2003 again to the Grade 1 category below.

The former participants in the competition include sports greats such as Björn Borg , Roger Federer , Ivan Lendl , Juan Martín del Potro , Jana Novotná , Wiktoryja Asaranka and Wera Swonarjowa .
