The Communauté de communes of the Haut-Doubs Portes is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It was founded on June 19, 1998 and comprises 47 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in Valdahon .

geography

The territory of the Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierrefontaine-Vercel comprises a region of the Plateaujuras in the northwestern Jura . The western part of the area is occupied by the Valdahon Plateau, which is on average 600 m above sea level and rises slightly towards the southeast. The plateau is bounded in the southwest by the Loue valley cut , in the northwest by the height of the Côte d'Anroz, while the valley system of the Audeux begins in the north . The ridge of Mont de Goux (828 m), which runs in a south-west-northeast direction, separates the Valdahon plateau from the Avoudrey basin and the Pierrefontaine plateau to the east. Both lie at an average of 700 m and are drained to the east by the Dessoubre . The northern boundary forms the ridge of the Peu. To the southeast, the area extends to the heights of the Folded Jura , which line the basin of Orchamps-Vennes. The rainwater seeps away into the karstified subsoil, which is why there are only a few surface rivers. In the karst springs at the foot of the plateaus, the water comes back to the surface and flows through deeply cut valleys. Important rivers are the Dessoubre, its left tributary Reverotte and the Audeux. While the ridges are predominantly forested, the plateaus are used for agriculture (especially dairy farming and cattle breeding, in lower elevations also arable farming).

Historical development

The municipalities of the two cantons of Vercel-Villedieu-le-Camp and Pierrefontaine-les-Varans have been working together in the Syndicat Intercommunal du Pays de Pierrefontaine-Vercel (SIPPIVE), an intermunicipal association, since 1986 . In order to further improve this collaboration, the Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierrefontaine-Vercel was founded on June 19, 1998. With effect from January 1, 2016, the formerly neighboring Communauté de communes des Premiers Sapins was transformed into the Commune nouvelle Les Premiers Sapins and integrated into the local community association.

By decree of June 26, 2017 left the church Bouclans the Communauté de communes du Doubs Baumois and joined the local association.

With effect from January 1, 2018, the association last known as Communauté de communes du Pays de Pierrefontaine-Vercel changed its name to the current name.

tasks

The tasks of the community association include the creation of jobs, economic development, the cross-community coordination of industrial zones, garbage disposal, drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment, the development and promotion of tourism, nature conservation, the construction and maintenance of cultural and sporting facilities, the public service and the primary school system.
