Copa México 1956/57
The Copa MX 1956/57 was the 15th edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico . The tournament was played following the league game round of the 1956/57 season. In order to achieve the desired number of 16 teams, the 13 first division teams from the 1956/57 season were allowed to take part in the championship and runner-up of the Segunda División , CD Zamora and Atlético Morelia , as well as the fifth placed team in the second division , CD Nacional . The cup winners were the CD Zacatepec team , which would later be coached by Ignacio Trelles , and which experienced the best phase in its club history in the second half of the 1950s.

The encounters were played in the knockout system . All rounds except for the final, for which only one match was scheduled, were played in two-way and two-way games, each with a home right for the two opponents. The final venue was the Estadio Olímpico Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City .
