Critics' Choice Television Award / Most Promising New Series

The Critics' Choice Television Award in the category most promising new series (original name: Most Exciting New Series ) is one of the awards , held annually in the United States by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association , a federation awarded by television critics. It is aimed at new television series that have largely not been broadcast to date and that are viewed as "very promising". The category was launched in 2011. In contrast to the other categories of the awards, all nominees are honored here.

History and records

Over the past five years, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has presented a total of 34 awards in the Most Promising New Series category. The first winners were Alcatraz , Awake , Apartment 23 , Falling Skies , New Girl , Ringer , Smash and Terra Nova , which were recognized at the 2011 Critics' Choice Television Awards . The last winners so far were Atlanta , Better Things , Designated Survivor , The Good Place , One Mississippi , Pitch , This Is Us - Das ist Leben and Westworld , which were honored at the 2016 Critics' Choice Television Awards .

The number of selected series varies between 5 (2012) and 8 (2011, since 2015). Of the previous 42 award winners, eight series were discontinued after the first and five more series after the second season, including the miniseries Political Animals .

The original title is not mentioned if the German and foreign-language series titles are identical. Since all nominees are automatically awarded in this category, the winners are not highlighted.
