Cumberland County is a county in the US state of Pennsylvania in the United States . At the 2000 census , the county had 213,674 people and a population density of 150 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Carlisle .
history
The county was founded on June 27, 1750 and named after the English county of Cumberland .
Two places in the county have National Historic Landmark status , Carlisle Indian School and Old West, Dickinson College . 32 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of July 22, 2018).
