If I think of Germany ... is the motto of a loose series of semi-documentary fiction and television films by Bavarian and West German radio . The titles in the series include Mr. Wichmann from the CDU (2003) by Andreas Dresen , in which the federal election campaign of the young CDU politician Henryk Wichmann in Brandenburg is shown in 2002 , We forgot to return (2001) by Fatih Akin and Das Wispern im Berg der Dinge (2000), in which Dominik Graf portrays his father, the actor Robert Graf . Dominik Graf composed the music for this title together with his school friend Helmut Spanner . The five episodes produced in 2001 formed a focus of the Hof International Film Festival in 2001 . All films in the series have been produced by the Munich company Megaherz .

The title quotes from the first verse of Heinrich Heine's poem Nachtgedanken (1844): "If I think of Germany at night, then I will be deprived of sleep".
