The 2009/10 season was ECHL's 22nd regular season . The 20 teams contested 72 matches each in the regular season . The regular season's best points team were the Idaho Steelheads , while the Cincinnati Cyclones won their second Kelly Cup in the play-offs .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- Toledo Walleye , the successor to the Toledo Storm, was added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Kalamazoo Wings from the International Hockey League were added to the league as an expansion team.
- The Dayton Bombers stopped playing.
- The Mississippi Sea Wolves stopped the game.
- The Phoenix RoadRunners stopped the game.
