Filip Kostić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Филип Костић ; born November 1, 1992 in Kragujevac ) is a Serbian football player . The left winger is under contract with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and is a national team player .

Career

Until 2014: Starts in Kragujevac and Groningen

Kostić made his professional debut for FK Radnički in 1923 Kragujevac as a 16-year-old . With the club he rose in 2010 from the third class Srpska Liga to the second class Prva Liga and in the following season to the first class SuperLiga . Kostić received some offers from abroad after the 2011/12 season and decided to move to the Dutch first division club FC Groningen . For this he scored 12 goals in 50 competitive games in two years.

2014–2016: Regular player in Stuttgart

After contact with the then sports director Fredi Bobic , Kostić switched to Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart for the 2014/15 season , with whom he signed a five-year contract. There he immediately became a regular player and achieved relegation with the team in the first season. At the end of the 2015/16 season he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart .

2016–2018: Regular at Hamburger SV

Kostić moved to Bundesliga club Hamburger SV for the 2016/17 season . He received a five-year contract dated June 30, 2021 and, with a transfer fee of around 14 million euros, became the most expensive transfer in HSV history to date. In his first season in Hamburg Kostić was one of the regular players and reached the quarter-finals with the club in the DFB Cup , in which Hamburg was eliminated by Borussia Mönchengladbach . Things didn't go well in the league and they fought against relegation, but on the last day of the match they managed to keep their league with a 2-1 win in their home game against VfL Wolfsburg - Kostić scored the 1-1 goal. In the following season he was also part of the regular team, but unlike in his first season Kostić rose with HSV for the first time from the Bundesliga.

Since 2018: Breakthrough in Frankfurt

In August 2018 Kostić switched to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt for two years on loan with a purchase option , where Fredi Bobic was meanwhile head of sport. Under Adi Hütter , he immediately earned a regular place on the left wing and was used in every Bundesliga game in his first season in Frankfurt. In addition, he played for Eintracht in four group games in the Europa League , which the club was the first German team to ever finish with six wins. In the knockout stages Kostic was in every game on the field, reaching the people of Frankfurt, the semi-finals , where they in the penalty shoot the Chelsea defeated. In total, the Serb made 46 competitive appearances with 10 goals and 13 assists in his first season at Eintracht. In May 2019, Eintracht withdrew the purchase option and signed a long-term contract with Kostić. Also in the 2019/20 season he was a long- runner in Frankfurt and made 50 competitive appearances with 12 goals scored and 18 assists; while he and his team reached the round of 16 in the Europa League, the semi-finals in the DFB Cup and 9th place in the championship.

Due to his style of play and his fighting spirit, Kostić is a crowd favorite in Frankfurt. His contract with Eintracht runs until 2023.

National team

Kostić completed on October 9, 2010 for the Serbian U19 national team in the qualifying round for the U19 European Championship 2011 against the selection of Luxembourg, his first compulsory international match . For the U21 national team in qualifying for the U21 European Championship 2015 in the decisive play-off second leg against defending champion Spain on October 14, 2014 in stoppage time, he scored the goal to the 2-1 win, which gave Serbia a 2-1 win EM tournament in the Czech Republic qualified.

Kostić made his senior national team debut on June 7, 2015 on the starting line-up against the selection of Azerbaijan . Six days later, he played his first A compulsory international match against Denmark in qualifying for the 2016 European Championship . In June 2018 Kostić was appointed to the Serbian squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia by national coach Mladen Krstajić . In the tournament he was used in all three group games of his team, which was eliminated as third in the group .

Personal

Kostić grew up with a brother in his native Kragujevac . He names Michael Ballack as a footballing role model.
