Dölsach is a municipality in the Lienz district in Tyrol in Austria with 2324 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
The Roman archaeological site of Aguntum is located in the municipality of Dölsach .
geography
Dölsach is located in the Lienz valley floor , east of Lienz at 731 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 24.2 km².
Community structure
The national park community Dölsach is divided into the five fractions Dölsach, Gödnach, Göriach, Görtschach and Stribach .
The community is located in the judicial district of Lienz .

history
The name Dölsach is derived from the Slavic dolice and means "small valley". The place was first mentioned in 1197 as "Dolischac" ; the place is the seat of an original parish until 1676 . In 1938, Dölsach was merged with the Iselsberg-Stronach area as the administrative seat and after the separation from it in 1945 it remained the seat of today's municipality.
