Galati Mamertino is a city of the metropolitan city of Messina in the Sicily region in Italy with 2408 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Galati Mamertino is 114 km west of Messina .

The parish belongs to Parco dei Nebrodi . The basis of the economy in this area is agriculture. Chestnuts, grapes and olives are cultivated. Livestock breeding mainly includes sheep, which is possible thanks to the still large uninhabited areas. The resulting cheese production also contributes to the success of agriculture.

In Galati Mamertino there are numerous bars, which are mainly located in the piazza, as well as restaurants (trattorie) and pubs.

In the direction of San Basilio there is a leisure swimming pool, each with a playing field for football, volleyball and tennis. A few meters from the swimming pool you can take a trip to the cool woods (pineta), where tables and seating have provided a place for picnics.

The weekly market takes place regularly on Wednesdays in the large bus parking lot (near the Carabinieri, towards the exit of the town).

There has been a playground for children with a climbing frame and slide since 2006. Another small playground is on the other side of the village above the Sant 'Antonio district.
