Caronia is an Italian commune in the metropolitan city of Messina in the autonomous region of Sicily with 3136 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Caronia is 122 km west of Messina on the northern coast of Sicily. The place is named after the mountains in the South Nebrodian Mountains , the Monte delle Caronie. Here is the largest forest in Sicily (see also Nebrodi fir ). The main occupation of the inhabitants is agriculture. In addition, will cement and cork production.
