Attractions
- Norman fort at Capo Sant'Alessio. The origins of the castle go back to Alessio I. Comneno (1048–1118), a Byzantine emperor who fought against the Normans and Saracens. It was successively owned by the Saracens and the Normans , who gave major architectural changes and extended the building based on the model of Norman fortress architecture. From 1676 it was used as a food depot during the military conflict between the French and Spanish in the city of Messina. At the beginning of the 17th century, English troops allied with Spain built an outer belt of fortifications around the fort.
