Nizza di Sicilia ( German  "Nice of Sicily" ) is a city in the metropolitan city of Messina in the region of Sicily in Italy with 3628 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Nizza di Sicilia is 36 kilometers southwest of Messina . The inhabitants work mainly in agriculture and fishing.

The neighboring municipalities are Alì Terme , Fiumedinisi , Mandanici and Roccalumera .

history

The place originated in the Middle Ages. From 1851 to 1963 Nizza di Sicilia was called San Ferdinando. From 1929 to 1948 the place belonged to Roccalumera.
