Alì Terme is a city of Metropolitan city of Messina in the Region of Sicily in Italy with 2,446 inhabitants (December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Alì Terme is 38 kilometers southwest of Messina on the coast of the Ionian Sea . The residents mainly work in agriculture and tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Alì , Fiumedinisi , Itala and Nizza di Sicilia .

history

The exact year the town was founded is unknown. Until 1911 the place belonged to Savoca . The place was then called Ali Marina. 1928 to 1946 the autonomy was abolished. In 1954 the place was renamed Alì Therme.

Attractions

There are two thermal springs in the village that were used as early as the 18th century. The Marino thermal baths use two springs, the Granata Cassible thermal baths use five springs. The water contains boric acid , sulfur compounds, iodized salts and carbonic acid . The temperature of the water fluctuates between 28 ° C and 46 ° C. The water is said to help against joint diseases and skin problems.

The tower was built in Norman times .
