Capizzi is a city in the metropolitan city of Messina in the Sicily region in Italy with 2977 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Capizzi is located 155 km west of Messina in the south of the Nebrodian Mountains. The residents mainly work in agriculture. Grains, cherries, almonds and cheese are produced.

The neighboring municipalities are Caronia , Cerami ( EN ), Cesarò and Mistretta .

history

The place has its origins in ancient times. In Arab times there was a small fortress here.
