Castel di Lucio is a city in the metropolitan city of Messina in the Sicily region in Italy with 1250 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Castel di Lucio is 159 km west of Messina in the western Monti Nebrodi . The residents mainly work in agriculture, handicrafts and food production.

The neighboring municipalities are Geraci Siculo ( PA ), Mistretta , Nicosia ( EN ), Pettineo and San Mauro Castelverde ( PA ).

history

The year of foundation of the place is unknown. Until the end of the 18th century, the place was part of the fief of Mistretta.

Attractions

The Church of the Frati Minori contains an image of Saint Francis. The remains of a tower are still standing from the former castle.
