Location and dates

Rometta is 30 km west of Messina . The residents mainly work in agriculture and tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Messina , Monforte San Giorgio , Roccavaldina , Saponara , Spadafora .

history

Rometta's founding year is unknown. The place fell in 965 as the last place in Sicily under the rule of the Arabs (see Siege of Rometta ). Until the 19th century the place was called Rametta.
