Motta Camastra is an Italian commune in the metropolitan city of Messina in the autonomous region of Sicily with 819 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Motta Camastra is 66 km southwest of Messina . The main occupation of the inhabitants is agriculture and animal husbandry .

The neighboring municipalities are Antillo , Castiglione di Sicilia ( CT ), Francavilla di Sicilia and Graniti .

history

The Camastra farm has stood here since the end of the 12th century. The place was founded in the 14th century by the Linguida family. Since then, various feudal lords owned the village, until 1560 that of the Sardo family, then that of the Lanza family.
