Gompitz / Altfranken with Ockerwitz, Pennrich, Roitzsch, Steinbach, Unkersdorf and Zöllmen is a statistical district of Dresden . The long district name results from the stringing together of a total of eight quite poorly populated districts of the two localities of Gompitz and Altfranken , which are statistically recorded in this unit.

location

The statistical district of Gompitz / Altfranken borders in the west on the communities Klipphausen and Wilsdruff and in the south on the large district town of Freital . In the east it is bounded by the other Dresden statistical districts Briesnitz , Gorbitz-Nord / Neuomsewitz and Gorbitz-Süd . To the north is Cossebaude / Mobschatz / Oberwartha, which also belongs to Dresden .

The boundaries of the statistical district are formed by the city limits of Dresden in the east that existed until 1997 and 1999 and the current city limits of Dresden in the south and west. In the north, the border runs in sections in the Zschoner Grund . Altfranken / Gompitz is located in the eastern Meißner highlands and extends to the edge of the Elbe valley .

In addition to Old Franconia, the Gompitz districts of Unkersdorf , Pennrich , Gompitz , Roitzsch , Steinbach , Ockerwitz and Zöllmen belong to this statistical district . With only 319 inhabitants per km², Gompitz / Altfranken is sparsely populated and, due to its rural and rural character, has the second lowest population density of all statistical districts of Dresden after Schönfeld / Schullwitz . The district is divided into the following eight statistical districts :

The statistical district is crossed by the A17 and the B173 , which cross at the Dresden-Gorbitz junction located here. On the northern edge of Gompitz / Altfranken lies the Dresden-West motorway triangle with a connection to the A4 . The individual districts are also connected to one another by several district roads.

Gompitz / Altfranken has a total of 24 bus stops. In addition to the DVB connections , the statistical district is also crossed by several RVSOE lines. In autumn 2008 the continuation of tram line 7 from Gorbitz via Gompitz to Pennrich was completed. Gompitz / Altfranken is therefore well connected to public transport .
