The Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi in 2019 (officially Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2019 ) took place on 1 December at the Yas Marina Circuit on Yas Island instead and was the 21st and final race of the Formula 1 World Championship 2019 . It was the first race in the Formula 1 World Championship in December since the 1963 South African Grand Prix .

After the Brazilian Grand Prix , Lewis Hamilton was 73 points ahead of Valtteri Bottas as driver world champion. For his part, Bottas was confirmed as runner-up, while Max Verstappen was 127 points behind in third. The first three positions in the constructors' championship had already been determined, with Mercedes leading Ferrari with 222 points and Red Bull Racing with 310 points .

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Pirelli provided the drivers with the tire compounds P Zero Hard (white, compound C3 ), P Zero Medium (yellow, C4 ) and P Zero Soft (red, C5 ), as well as Cinturato Intermediates (green) and Cinturato Full for wet conditions -Wets (blue) available.

With Hamilton (four times), Sebastian Vettel (three times), Kimi Räikkönen and Bottas (once each), four former winners competed in this Grand Prix.
