The 2019 French Grand Prix (officially Formula 1 Pirelli Grand Prix de France 2019 ) took place on June 23 at the Paul Ricard Circuit in Le Castellet and was the eighth race of the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship .

After the Canadian Grand Prix , Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers' standings with 29 points ahead of Valtteri Bottas and 62 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel . In the constructors' championship, Mercedes leads Ferrari with 123 points and Red Bull Racing with 171 points .
At the French Grand Prix, Pirelli provided the drivers with the tire compounds P Zero Hard (white, compound C2 ), P Zero Medium (yellow, C3 ) and P Zero Soft (red, C4 ), as well as Cinturato Intermediates (green) and Cinturato Full for wet conditions -Wets (blue) available.
With Raikkonen and Hamilton (once each) two former winners competed at this Grand Prix.
Race stewards were Yannick Dalmas (FRA), Jean-Marie Krempff (FRA), Tim Mayer (USA) and Mathieu Remmerie (BEL).

In the first free practice, Hamilton set the fastest time with a lap time of 1: 32.738 minutes ahead of Bottas and Charles Leclerc .
In the second free practice, Bottas was fastest in 1: 30.937 minutes ahead of Hamilton and Leclerc.
In the third free practice session, the first three positions remained unchanged.
Qualifying
The qualifying consisted of three parts with a net running time of 45 minutes. In the first qualifying segment (Q1), the drivers had 18 minutes to qualify for the race. All drivers who achieved a time in the first section that was a maximum of 107 percent of the fastest lap time qualified for the Grand Prix. The best 15 drivers reached the next part. Bottas was the fastest. Grosjean, Kwjat, the Williams pilots and Stroll were eliminated.
The second section (Q2) lasted 15 minutes. The ten fastest pilots qualified for the third part of qualifying. Bottas was again fastest. Perez, Magnussen, Nico Hülkenberg , Raikkonen and Albon were eliminated.
The final section (Q3) lasted twelve minutes, during which the first ten starting positions were awarded. Hamilton set the fastest time with a lap time of 1: 28.319 minutes ahead of Bottas and Leclerc. It was Hamilton's 86th pole position in the Formula 1 World Championship and the fastest lap time ever on this track.

Hamilton won the race ahead of Bottas and Leclerc. The remaining points were placed by Verstappen, Vettel, Sainz, Ricciardo, Raikkonen, Hülkenberg and Norris.
In the drivers' championship, Hamilton stayed ahead of Bottas and Vettel. The first three places in the constructors' championship remained unchanged.
