Qualifying
The qualifying consisted of three parts with a net running time of 45 minutes. In the first qualifying segment (Q1), the drivers had 18 minutes to qualify for the race. All drivers who achieved a time in the first section that was a maximum of 107 percent of the fastest lap time qualified for the Grand Prix. The best 15 drivers reached the next part. Bottas was the fastest. The Williams drivers, Grosjean, Stroll and Kwjat were eliminated.
The second section (Q2) lasted 15 minutes. The ten fastest drivers qualified for the third part of the qualifying and had to start the race with the tires used here, all other drivers had a free choice of tires for the start of the race. Leclerc was the fastest. Magnussen, the Alfa Romeo drivers, Gasly and Pérez were eliminated.
The final section (Q3) lasted twelve minutes, during which the first ten starting positions were awarded. Leclerc set the fastest time with a lap time of 1: 36.217 minutes ahead of Hamilton and Vettel. It was Leclerc's fifth pole position in the Formula 1 World Championship, the third in a row.
Pérez was moved five starting positions back due to a premature gear change after his accident in the third free practice session. Ricciardo was subsequently taken out of the qualifying because the maximum permissible energy flow had been exceeded on the MGU-K of his vehicle. Although the team argued that it was a brief overrun of the 120 kW limit that did not result in an advantage, the race stewards decided to disqualify Ricciardo. However, he was allowed to start the race because he had set sufficiently fast lap times in free practice.
run
Vettel won the race ahead of Leclerc and Verstappen. It was the 53rd victory for Vettel in the Formula 1 World Championship, the fifth in Singapore and the first since the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix . For Ferrari it was the first double victory since the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2017 , and it was also the first double victory for a designer in Singapore. The remaining points were placed by Hamilton, Bottas, Albon, Lando Norris , Gasly, Nico Hülkenberg and Giovinazzi. Since Magnussen had achieved the fastest race lap but finished outside the top ten, no driver received the additional point.
In the drivers' championship, Hamilton extended his lead over Bottas, Leclerc was now third. The first three places in the constructors' championship remained unchanged.
