The Singapore Grand Prix 2013 (officially 2013 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix ) took place on 22 September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore instead and was the 13th race of the Formula 1 World Championship in 2013 .

After the Italian Grand Prix , Sebastian Vettel led the drivers' championship with 53 points ahead of Fernando Alonso and 81 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton . Red Bull-Renault led the constructors' championship with 104 points ahead of Ferrari and 107 points ahead of Mercedes .

There was a change to the route compared to last year. The chicane in the Singapore Sling has been replaced by a left turn.

At the Singapore Grand Prix, Pirelli provided the drivers with the tire compounds P Zero Medium (white) and P Zero Supersoft (red) as well as Cinturato Intermediates (green) and Cinturato Full Wets (blue) for wet conditions .

With Alonso, Vettel (twice each) and Hamilton (once), three former winners competed in this Grand Prix.

Paul Gutjahr (SUI), Nish Shetty (SIN), Vincenzo Spano (VEN) and Derek Warwick (GBR) acted as race commissioners .

In the first free practice, Hamilton drove the fastest lap ahead of Mark Webber and Vettel. In the second free practice session, Vettel took the lead from Webber and Nico Rosberg . Vettel was over a second ahead of all drivers except his Red Bull teammate Webber. The Red Bulls were not only quick on one lap, but were also significantly faster than the competition on the long runs. In the third free practice session, Vettel stayed ahead. Romain Grosjean was second ahead of Rosberg.

Qualifying

In the first section of qualifying, Hamilton was the fastest. The Marussia and Caterham pilots as well as Pastor Maldonado and Paul di Resta were eliminated. In the second section, Vettel set the fastest lap time. Valtteri Bottas , Adrian Sutil , Sergio Pérez , Kimi Räikkönen , Jean-Éric Vergne and Nico Hülkenberg were eliminated. Esteban Gutiérrez managed to beat his teammates for the first time and to move into the top 10. In the final segment, Vettel kept the lead and secured pole position in front of Rosberg and Grosjean.

Vettel scored a start-to-finish victory ahead of Alonso and Raikkonen. Vettel also drove the fastest race lap and achieved a Grand Slam. In the run-out lap, Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso took his driver colleague Mark Webber back to the pits while sitting on the side box. For this negligence, Webber was warned by the FIA ​​for the third time in the season and was postponed ten starting positions for the next race.
