In addition to the Bishopric of Bamberg had until the end of the 18th century, especially the city of Nuremberg and the Principality of Bayreuth , the common rule over the small village . The rules for this condominium were laid down in the Forchheim Recess of 1538. From 1426 to 1848 the Tucher ruled the land .

During the Napoleonic period, the place became French together with the Principality of Bayreuth from 1806 to 1810 for almost four years before it came to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1810 . Hausen only became part of the district (then district court) Forchheim in 1857, as it had always been oriented towards Middle Franconia due to its close ties to the Free Imperial City of Nuremberg and belonged to the then district court of Herzogenaurach .

Hausen became known nationwide through its Pilatus legend, in which it is claimed that Pontius Pilatus was born in Hausen, with the old house numbers 48 and 73 even specifically naming two birth houses.

coat of arms

The description of the coat of arms reads: “Divided and split below; above in gold a black bucket wheel above; at the bottom in front by an inclined, overturned silver rafter divided by black and red, behind in silver a diagonally left red palm branch. "

The meaning of the coat of arms: The water wheel is a reminder of the many water wheels that once shaped the region. The colors black and gold go back to the coat of arms of the bishopric of Bamberg , because the Bamberg bishops used to have water sovereignty. The rafter shows the former rule of the Haller von Hallerstein family. The palm branch indicates the church patron St. Wolfgang.

In the center of the village is the church of St. Wolfgang, built in 1468 by the Nuremberg patrician family Haller von Hallerstein , which was later rebuilt in the Baroque style. The main attraction for tourists is one of the historic water paddles in the Regnitz , with which the farmers irrigated their fields and of which there used to be around thirty in the Hausener Flur.
