The International Opera Awards 2013 name all nominations and all award winners of this year. The International Opera Awards were launched this year by Harry Hyman, a British businessman and philanthropist, and John Allison , publisher of the British trade magazine Opera , and have since been presented annually in a festive setting in London.

Goals and ceremony

The first presentation of the International Opera Awards took place on April 22, 2013 in a festive setting in the London Hilton Hotel. The structure of the award ceremony is based on the tradition of the Academy Awards , with four to eight nominations in each category and one winner who is not announced until the ceremony.

The aim of the award ceremony is to promote outstanding achievements in the field of opera and to highlight them in a journalistic way. The award winners state that there are a number of music and culture prizes, but so far no international award specifically for the field of music theater. The prizes are given to artists and institutions (opera houses and festivals). Individual productions, DVDs and CDs are also awarded. A special prize is awarded to the life's work of a personality and a philanthropist or sponsor.

Furthermore, outstanding talents and young artists should be brought into the limelight.
