Irsen is a village in the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district . The place was formerly called Mittelirsen .

Irsen is located on the Leuscheid in the southeast of the municipality in the Irserbachtal . Neighboring towns are Ölsen in the east, Rimbach in the south and Niederirsen in the north. The three places are on the other side of the state border in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

The village belonged to the parish of Leuscheid and at times to the mayor's office Dattenfeld .

In 1830 the place had 89 inhabitants.

In 1845 the hamlet had 112 inhabitants in 22 houses, eleven of them Protestant and 101 Catholic. In 1888 there were 99 residents in 22 houses.

In 1910 there were households in Mittelirsen: two farmhands Jakob Bender, farmhand Gerhard Bitzer and shoemaker Gustav Bitzer, innkeeper Wilhelm Bitzer, farmhand Anton Bohlscheid, carter Karl Deneu, wheelwright Wilhelm Engelbert, farmhand Friedrich Wilhelm Franz, the Fuchs families with the grocer's widow Ernst Ludwig , Farmer Gerhard Friedrich, carpenter Friedrich Wilhelm , farmer widow Friedrich Wilhelm, then farmer widow Friedrich Giesenbach, widow Friedrich Wilhelm Griesenbach, farmer Friedrich Hasselbach, peddler Karl Jost, day laborer August Kolb, farmer Friedrich Wilhelm Kolb, farmer and grocer Heinrich Krämer, the cattle dealer Rudolf and Karl Krämer, farmhands Eduard Mäueler and farmhands Gustav and Friedrich Wilhelm Mäueler, day laborers Gustav Pfeiffer, farmhands Josef Pick, miner Peter Schenk, blacksmith Julius Schwab, farmhands Wilhelm Schwab, mill owners Wilhelm Schneider, farmhands Ludwig Schumacher, farmhands August Stark and farmers Karl Stahl.

In 1962 135 and in 1976 182 people lived here.
