Kamień ( German  stone ) is a small forest settlement ("osada leśna") in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , which belongs to the urban and rural municipality of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

geography

Kamień is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , south of the DW 650 voivodeship road and southeast of the Masurian Canal ( Kanał Mazurski in Polish ), ten kilometers west of the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

In 1874 the Stein forester was founded as part of the Steinort Forest . The small forest house settlement was in the Gutsbezirk and subsequent rural community Pristanien (1938-1945 Paßdorf , Polish: Przystań) in the district Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia incorporated.

In 1945 the place came with the rest of southern East Prussia to Poland and received the Polish name "Kamień". Today the settlement is part of the urban and rural community Węgorzewo in the powiat Węgorzewski .

Ecclesiastically, Stein was parish into the Evangelical Church of Engelstein and the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Angerburg until 1945 .

Today the residents are oriented towards the Evangelical Church in Węgorzewo , a branch church of Giżycko (Lötzen) and the Catholic Church in Węgielsztyn .

traffic

In terms of traffic, Kamień can only be reached via three land routes, which lead from Stawki (Stawken , Staken 1938 to 1945 ) , Mamerki (Mauerwald) and Kaczory (Fürstenwalde) to here.

The next train station is Przystań on the - although no longer regularly operated - railway line Kętrzyn – Węgorzewo (Rastenburg – Angerburg) .
